How to use Vidsteer: a step-by-step guide to creating viral video scripts

Everything you need to know to get the most out of Vidsteer — from choosing your niche to delivering your script on camera.

Vidsteer is built to give you a word-for-word, camera-ready script in under 60 seconds. But like any tool, the quality of what you put in determines the quality of what comes out. Here's a full walkthrough of every step — and how to get the best possible results at each one.

Step 1: Choose your niche

The first thing you'll do after logging in is choose your niche. Vidsteer has 15 pre-loaded niches covering most industries — fitness, finance, food, beauty, real estate, e-commerce, mindset, marketing, parenting, travel, personal finance, relationships, sport, fashion, and building and trades.

If your niche isn't listed, you can type your own directly into the field. The model will use whatever you enter to tailor the script intelligence to your space.

Step 2: Select your platform

This step matters more than most people realise. Choose from TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, or LinkedIn. Each script is specifically tailored to the platform you select — the pacing, language, structure and hook style all shift depending on where your video will live.

If you're creating content for Facebook, select Instagram Reels — you'll get the closest match and the best results.

Step 3: Choose your goal

What do you want this video to do? Vidsteer offers five goals: Educate, Inspire, Sell, Entertain, or Build Trust. Your goal shapes the entire structure of the script — a video designed to sell has a completely different flow to one designed to educate, even if the topic is identical.

Step 4: Choose your delivery style

This is where your personality comes in. Pick from four styles: Raw and Personal, Motivational and Energetic, Calm and Thoughtful, or Funny and Witty. The results change dramatically depending on your choice here, so be deliberate. Think about how you actually show up on camera and pick the style that matches it — authenticity always outperforms performance.

Step 5: Set your video length

Choose between 30 seconds, 60 seconds, or 90 seconds. Be considered with this choice. If you're tackling a complex topic or multi-step process, go for 90 seconds — you'll need the room. If you want something short and sharp with immediate impact, 30 seconds is your answer. 60 seconds is a solid sweet spot for most content.

Step 6: Enter your topic (this is the big one)

Your topic is where the model gets its raw material — and the more you give it, the better the output. A vague topic produces a vague script. A specific, detailed topic produces something genuinely usable.

Good topics include results, timeframes, personal angles, and specific details. For example: "How I lost 10kg in 10 weeks without doing a single run" is excellent. So is "Why no one will ever beat my Nonna's spaghetti bolognese recipe." Both give the model something real to work with.

Compare that to "make me a funny video about cars" — you'll get something, but it won't be specific enough to really land. The same idea rewritten as "Why I'm worth a million dollars but I'm still happily driving a 1980s Ford pickup truck" gives the model personality, contrast, and a hook to build from. That's the difference.

The rule of thumb: write your topic like you're pitching the video to a friend. Include the angle, the result, the twist, or the detail that makes it interesting.

If you're stuck and can't think of a topic, hit the random topic generator button in the bottom right corner. It'll give you a strong idea based on your niche. Keep clicking it — it keeps producing new ideas every time.

Step 7: Pick your hook

Once you submit, Vidsteer generates five hooks — each written from a different angle. The five styles are: Curiosity, Bold Claim, Relatable Pain, Contrarian Truth, and Story Open.

All five will be strong. Your job is to pick the one that best suits the mood of your video and the way you want to open it. If none of them feel quite right, scroll to the bottom and hit Regenerate Hooks — a fresh set will come back immediately.

Step 8: View and edit your full script

Once you've selected your hook, click Full Script. You'll see the entire video script broken into sections: hook and intro, the problem you're introducing, the value you're delivering, and your call to action.

If anything needs adjusting, click Edit and change it directly. The script is yours — rewrite any section to better match your voice or situation.

Step 9: Your script is saved automatically

Once you're happy with it, your script is saved to your account. You can access every script you've ever generated by clicking My Scripts in the top menu. Nothing gets lost — your full history is always there.

Step 10: Use your delivery tips

Alongside your script, Vidsteer also generates Delivery Tips — practical guidance on how to deliver this specific video on camera. These are tailored to your style, platform, and goal, and cover things like pacing, energy, eye contact, and emphasis. Read them before you film.

The script gets you the words. The delivery tips get you the performance. Together, they give you everything you need to shoot a video that actually lands.
